Xp sp2 validating identity

Apparently de-selecting the Authentication checkbox on the advanced properties of the connection properties should fix it, but for me Windows automatically re-checks that checkbox getting me back to the validating identity problem.Back to the XP forums, although I am starting to wonder if it is worth it... Connect to the router via the ethernet cable instead, install XP SP3 and what seems like a couple of hundred other updates via Windows Update.I moved the selection tab to WPA2 only and keep the rest the same and no luck. I have seen this in the router properties (i.e - from Open to WPA), tried this, but then it wont connect at all. PLEASE NOTE: Do not post advertisements, offensive materials, profanity, or personal attacks.Several reboots later and it goes back to asking for password and validating identity error disappears.Hope this is useful for anyone else who has this problem. When I try to connect using the windows zero configuration utility it gets stuck validating identity. It says something about windows not finding a certificate.
